Prof. Suat Yıldırım delivered a lecture on his recently published book, “Fethullah Gulen’s Approach to the Quran”, at the Journalists and Writers Foundation on March 19th.

Prof. Suat Yıldırım has talked about in his lecture that people sometimes have difficulties in understanding the Holy Quran. Yıldırım mentioned when Fethullah Gulen works on tafsir (Arabic word for exegesis or commentary, usually of the Qur'an) he sets out with the very influences that the Quran left on him. Fethullah Gulen has three boks published on the Quran, and these are; Reflections from Quran onto Intellect, Within the Golden Atmosphere of the Quran, Observations on Fatiha Surah. Besides, Gulen always refers to the Quran in his other books as well. Stating the reason why people gets confused when reading the Quran is the revelation, Yıldırım said Gulen explains this point very aptly with a specific example.

“For example, in Morse code receptors turns different signals into letters and words, each signal means a letter and whoever stands at the receptors gets the same letters and messages from the signals.”

Prof. Yıldırım added, among the predecessor annotators of the Quran, that Gulen is like Fahreddin Razi, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi, Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır and Sayyid Qutb.
